A guide to getting into isometric pixelart. Works with just about any image editor.
EDIT: A few people have recently come across this tutorial and found the download to be broken.
The original tutorial has been lost, so why not try this tutorial at Pixelfreak.
Cheers!
A good start, very helpful to beginner pixelists I'm sure, but I think you left out a lot of important details.
For instance, a more indepth description of the "over two, up one" angle ( 26.5 degrees ) would've been good. A lot of isometric pixelists swear by this, and it would've been good to go over that a bit.
Also, your walk through of the house was too quick. I'm guessing most new pixelists will be stumped by the progress you made from one part to another and won't be able to do things like add a roof or put windows and doors in. Go slower and step through some of these basic things.
But on a whole, you have the right idea. Glad to see someone is trying to answer the "What is pixel art?" question with a better answer than "drawing art pixel by pixel."
